Rye is located about 5 miles southeast of White Plains and 25 miles north of Manhattan, has a population of approximately 15,000 people, and it is governed by a mayor and six councilmen, all unsalaried.
Rye shares with parts of Connecticut a small town New England ambiance and a sense of history. The main road, Purchase St. runs through the charming downtown area, which is filled with a collection of gourmet shops, coffee bars, a world class ice cream shop, and many elegant boutiques.
