THE COMMUNITY
Originally Rye Brook NY was an unincorporated section of the town of Rye settled in 1660, however it then became a village in 1982. The Village of Rye Brook is 3.5 square miles, comprised of a 8,300 residents. Today Rye Brook combines tree-lined neighborhoods with ready access to many of the numerous corporations, which employ many of its residents. The corporations include the world headquarters of Philip Morris International, Kraft General Foods International and MCI International to name just a few. Rye Brook is bordered by the state of Connecticut to the east and to town of Harrison to the west. Residents enjoy easy access to Interstate-95, 287, the Hutchinson River Parkway and the Merritt Parkways, as well as a forty minute commute into the New York City.

THE SCHOOLS
With a student population of approximately 850, the Village of Rye Brook has long since proven that their first priority is to excellence in education. Current expenditures on education average $13,000 per student, and Rye Brook parents are heavily involved in the districts activities. In 1985-1986 The Ridge Street School was the recipient of the National Education Excellence Award, given by the United States Department of State. Similarly Blind Brook High School is also a nationally recognized School of Excellence. Its small size in grades 9-12 fosters a strong sense of community within the school, which promotes close attention to both academic standards and individual student needs. Accredited by both the University of the State of New York and the Middles States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools, 99% of recent Blind Brook High School graduates have immediately entered college, university or specialized school. 92% of senior classes enter four-year schools and the high schools faculty was recognized as one of the best in Westchester, with a student ratio of 10:1.

WHAT TO DO IN RYE BROOK
As a resident of Rye Brook your family will never be bored. The Rye Brook Recreation Department supervises and maintains four parks where numerous outdoor and sporting activities are available for residents to take advantage of. There are nine tennis courts available with in the village that offers tennis instruction for both adults and children. Also included in the Recreation Department¹s offerings are Golf, swimming lessons, softball, baseball and basketball. For more refined taste Rye Brook offers the Castle Center for the Arts, located in the Summerfield Methodist church has received awards from both the New York State Department of Social Services and The New York State Department of Social Services and the New York Council for the Arts. The Castle Center specializes in the performing arts, and offers Rye Brook residents the opportunity to perform in and attend musical theater performance in its own performance space. The center also hosts children's art classes and music lessons for both adults and children.
